Private graveside services for Mrs. Irene E. Smith, age 86, of Warner Robins, GA were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010 graveside with Rev. Craig Green officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens in Livingston, TN.

Mrs. Smith died January 24, 2010 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robbins, GA. She was born September 30, 1923 in Alliance, Alberta, Canada to the late Louis and Minnie Adam Hoefling. She was a housewife.

Subsequent to her husband's distinguished military career, they were avid bowlers who received numerous trophies for their bowling accomplishments throughout the Middle Georgia area. Irene volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at Robins Air Force Base Hospital for 28 years. She was a pet lover, enjoyed feeding the birds, had a special love of dogs, & was always kind to animals.

She will live in the hearts of her husband of 53 years, Lt. Col. Arnold Smith USAF (Ret.) of Warner Robins, GA; nephew, Robin (& Ruth) Thompson of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law, Juanita S. Carr of Hendersonville, TN; and a niece, Noroma (& Jack) Benz of Goodlettsville, TN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Annie and Lois, and 5 brothers, William, Edward, Fred, Ralph, & John, and mother-in-law & father-in-law, Hettie & Audrian Smith.
