Funeral services for Mrs. Opalyne M. Franklin, age 75, of Livingston will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Freddy Looper and Bro. Kenneth Clayton officiating. Burial will be in the Okolona Cemetery in Rickman. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. and until 9 p.m. on Friday evening.

Mrs. Franklin died May 4, 2010 at her home. She was born October 14, 1934 in Clay County to the late Hillary and Geneva Glidwell Mercer. She was a garment factory worker.

She attended First Assembly of God in Livingston.

She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Hancock of Livingston; sons, Johnny H. Franklin Jr. and Jimmy L. Franklin, both of Livingston; brothers, Alton Mercer of Rickman and Harnold Mercer of Gainesboro; 2 grandchildren, Whitney and Kylor Allred and 2 step-grandchildren, Jerry and Michael Boswell; very special niece, Paula Craig of Tompkinsville, KY and several other nieces & nephews; and special friends, Odell Johnson and Hazel Webb.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Johnny H. Franklin Sr., brothers: Samuel, Talton, & John Ed Mercer, and sisters: Helen Sidwell and Beatrice Mercer.

Pallbearers to serve are Jerry & Mike Boswell, Timmy & Eddie Mercer Jimmy Evans, & Jack McCormick. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Mercer, Jason Hodson, Robert Allred, & Doug Neely.
