Funeral services for Mr. Wymon Davis, age 86, of the Timothy Community will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Rev. Keith Long and Rev. Rick Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the McFerrin Cemetery in Allons where the Honor Guard from the James T. Davis Memorial Post 5062 will perform a military service with full honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.
Mr. Davis died May 25, 2010 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born April 5, 1924 in Clay County to the late Walter Lee and Arie Smith Davis. He owned & operated the Western Auto Store in Livingston for 25 years.
He was a member of McFerrin United Methodist Church and the Livingston Civitan Club. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Odean Davis of the Timothy Community; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Eldon & Brenda Davis of Livingston and Donnie & Pam Davis of the Timothy Community; a daughter & son-in-law, Lisa & Lester Gentry of the Timothy Community; grandchildren, Shona & Joseph Smith of Cookeville, Sonia Upton of Celina, Rachel & Randall Graff of Livingston, Grant Davis and Alex Gentry, both of the Timothy Community; and 3 great-grandchildren, Cherokee and Chloe Upton of Celina and Lukas Flynn Smith of Cookeville.
He is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers & sisters.
Pallbearers to serve are Lester Gentry, Grant Davis, Matt Davis, Randall Graff, Joseph "Bubba" Smith, Eric Gentry, & Joe Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Davis, Clyde Hensley, Sonny Holt, Cleston Robbins, Joe Eddie Upton, and Friends at the Celina & Livingston Senior Citizens Centers.
