Funeral services for Mrs. Ala Lee Young, age 88, of Monroe will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 from the McDonald's Chapel United Methodist Church in Monroe where the body will lie in state from 12 noon until service at 1 p.m. Rev. Chris Reagan will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Dugan Smith Cemetery in Monroe, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Speck Funeral Home from 5 until 9 p.m.

Mrs. Young died September 13, 2011 at her home. She was born July 26, 1923 in Overton County to the late Charlie and Catherine Cooper Lee. She was a housewife and dairy farmer.

She was a member of McDonald's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Joan Sells and June Maynord, both of Monroe; 2 sons, Jackie Young of Monroe and Jeff Young of Allons; 11 grandchildren, Darrell Sells, David Sells, Kim Pierce, Christy Gore, Andrew Huddleston, Danielle Coffman, Andrea Maynord, Ashlee Maynord, Jonathan Cummings, Jeffrey Cummings, and Julie Smith; and 7 great-grandchildren, Courtney Sells, Hunter Sells, Shayna Gore, Cody Gore, Angel Robbins, Gracie Pierce, & Cole Cooper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Howard Estel Young, a great-grandchild: Jessica Sells, brothers: R. D., Homer, Herman, Cecil, Otis, & Ridley Lee, and sisters: Lela Reeder, Roxie Clark, Lena Little, & Leda White.

Pallbearers to serve are Darrell and David Sells, Andrew Huddleston, Jonathan and Jeffrey Cummings, Josh Coffman, & Rodney Smith.
