Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Claudine Arney, age 97, of Livingston will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Kelly Rich officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery in Monroe. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m.
Mrs. Arney died April 14, 2012 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born July 12, 1914 in Overton County to the late John Edgar and Bonza Garrett Melton. She worked with the Grandparenting Program.
She was a member of the Hatcher Hall Christian Church.
She is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Linda Arney of Livingston; a daughter & son-in-law, Janice & Richard Hawkins of Livingston; 21 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Malcolm & Elsie Melton of Cookeville and Walter Quin & Leigh Ann Melton of Odessa, TX; daughters-in-law, Betty Ruth Arney and Rose Arney; nephew, Joey Melton of Allons and niece, Nancy McDonald of Maryland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Stanley Arney, an infant son, a daughter: Lucille Arney, sons: Ray, Edgar, Bill, & Kenneth Arney, and brothers: Robert & Benton Arney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
