Funeral services for Mr. George Hargis, age 69, of Livingston will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2012 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Rick Lacy & Bro. Melvin Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.
Mr. Hargis passed away July 17, 2012 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born November 16, 1942 in Overton County to the late Eddie Elmer & Icee Ellen Spurlin Hargis. He was a logger.
He attended Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hargis of Livingston; son, Chris & Sandy Hargis of Monroe; daughters, Shelby & Kendrick Collins of Allons, Diana & Joey Foster of Allons, and Margaret & Richard Hull of Livingston; 10 grandchildren, Jordan Hargis, Josh Foster, Cody Foster, Tyler Collins, Taylor Hargis, Logan Hull, Trent Hull, Emily Hargis, & Cristin Collins and 1 great-grandchild, Tucker Hargis; a brother, Jimmy Hargis of McMinnville, and sisters, Pauline Presley of Rickman and Zula Brown of Crossville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Argie Copeland and Ruby Stenson and brothers: Elmer Hargis and Eddie Hargis.
Pallbearers to serve are Jordan & Greg Hargis, Josh, Cody, & Shawn Foster, Tyler Collins, & Logan and Trent Hull. Honorary will be Taylor Hargis, Cristin Collins, Emily Hargis, & Tucker Hargis.
