Graveside Services for Mrs. Betty Sue Webb Dodson, age 87, of Rickman will be conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020 from the Dodson Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Cotterman, Bro. Jeff Monday, and Ricky Dodson will officiate. The family will welcome friends at the cemetery.
Mrs. Betty Sue Dodson passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Betty married the love of her life Dewey Dodson on November 26, 1958. Betty was born in Putnam County, Tennessee on January 15, 1933 to the late Floyd & Myrtle Gore Webb. She was best known as Mrs. Dodson fulfilling her passion of educating young lives as a substitute teacher. Betty spent numerous years in this role and is often remembered by the stories she would tell-she always said she could do backflips, and if so we imagine her doing backflips all over heaven right now.
Betty had many other passions as well - She was a devout Christian. She loved reading her Bible and attending church at Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church where she was an active member. She also loved her family and friends and enjoyed daily conversations on the telephone. She loved gardening putting together puzzles and keeping numerous bird feeders in her yard, so she could listen to them sing. Betty would have celebrated her 88th birthday in just a few short weeks in January. She will be missed by all who knew her and left a legacy to be carried on for years to come.
Betty leaves behind a daughter, Tammy Dodson Hordos, and husband Michael; son, Ricky Dodson and wife Paige, and Randy Dodson and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Adam Dodson and wife Sara, Austin Dodson, David Dodson, and Amanda Dodson Masters and husband Chad; great-grandchildren, Briley and Rylan Masters.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Dodson; and sister, Marie McBride.
Pallbearers to serve are Ricky Dodson, Adam Dodson, Chad Masters, Michael Hordos, David Dodson, and Austin Dodson.
