Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Bernice "Barney" Cantrell, age 88, of Rickman, Tennessee, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2025, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home, with Bro. Eric Dillon officiating. Burial will follow at Okolona Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cantrell peacefully passed away on Friday morning, May 2, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born at home in the Timothy Community of Overton County on January 24, 1937, to the late Bailey Benton Bilbrey and Thena Elizabeth Smith Bilbrey.

Known to many simply as “Barney,” she spent many years working as a clerk at the Rickman Convenience Stores, where she quietly brightened people’s days with her kindness and smile. She graduated from Livingston Academy in 1954 and attended the Netherland Church of Christ.

Bernice enjoyed simple pleasures—sewing clothes for her loved ones, tending to her large garden, canning and spending time with family and friends. She especially liked traveling on bus tours, watching Wheel of Fortune, and tuning into Talk of the Town, to try new recipes. Her compassionate spirit and generosity left a lasting impression on those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ferrell and husband Ricky of Rickman, TN; grandson, Dustin Ferrell and wife Megan of Livingston, TN; granddaughter, Rachel Maynord and husband Mitchell of Livingston, TN; and great-grandchildren, Knox, Kameron, and Kaycen Ferrell, along with Clint and Annie Maynord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. E. Cantrell; her brothers, Bailey Butler Bilbrey, Melvin Buster Bilbrey, and Grady Kenneth Peck Bilbrey; and her sisters, Thelma Bilbrey Maynord and Marilyn D. Bilbrey Andrews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Andrews, Ricky Dodson, Barry Johnson, Duane Bilbrey, David Ashburn, and Darrell Cantrell.

Bernice life was one of strength, love, and service to others. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
