Livingston Funeral Home - Jeanette Preece Obituary

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jeanette M. Preece, age 55 of Cookeville, will be conducted 3 PM Wednesday, January 5th, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.  Bro. Eric Dillon, Bro. Brett Gibbons, and Bro. Rudy Oakes will officiate.  The family will welcome friends on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of services at 3 PM.  Cremation to follow with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at Davisport Freewill Baptist Church in Tomahawk, Kentucky, at a later date.

Jeanette departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, January 4, 2022, surrounded by her husband and children.  She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on February 25, 1966, to the late Earl and Helen Wells Mollett.

Jeanette leaves behind her loving husband Bro. John Preece of Cookeville; daughter Jennifer (Jenni) Hicks and husband Joseph of Rickman; son Jonathan Justin Preece and wife Kristy of Algood; grandchildren Avery Ann Taylor, Jeana Hicks, Jacob Hicks, and Jonah Hicks; brothers Marty Mollett, Jerry Mollett, Richard Mollett, Michael Mollett, and Mark Mollett all of Martin County, Kentucky; sisters Anna Mae Spriggs of Johnson County, Kentucky, Emma Leona Fetterly of Vinton, Ohio, Olivean Johnson, Janet Hill and husband Dale, Alice Cole, and Linda Mollett all of Martin County, Kentucky; and a slew of nieces and nephews.

Jeanette's greatest joy was being a mother to her two children and being a grandmother to her four grandchildren and a loving wife to her beloved husband of 38 years.  She took pride in her family and wanted them to accomplish many wonderful things in their lives, but most of all she wanted them to be happy and enjoy the kind of relationship and love with a spouse as she herself had been blessed to have.  She is quoted as saying on many occasions that the reason she lived her life the way she did, honoring and living for her Lord and Savior, was so that she could lead her children and other people to the Lord.  Jeanette was a kind person and enjoyed helping others when they were in need.  She tried to be a good friend to all she met.  Jeanette was also one to tell it like it was.  She would tell a person the truth about a situation even when she knew it would hurt.  Jeanette loved her brothers and sisters very much as well and was proud to be part of such a large family.  Jeanette had a special bond with her sister Linda who she grew up with sharing everything as a child and felt most comfortable telling her every detail of her life.  Linda is the sister she would count on to help and to cry with if the need arose.  Jeanette attributed her success in life to the encouragement of her mother, Helen.  She was a member of the Algood First Freewill Baptist Church where she always enjoyed singing and attending church services.  Jeanette's favorite place to go on vacation was the beach and she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds in her yard.  She will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her sisters Eula Dean Mollett and Iva Dean Davis.
