It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Leon Story, age 78, of Dogwalk in Alpine, who passed away on Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2025, at Livingston Regional Medical Center.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Leon was born on August 14, 1946, in Albany, Kentucky, to the late Orby and Clara Reeser Story. Leon was a member of the Oak Dale Baptist Church and a dedicated member of the West Fork Masonic Lodge.

Throughout his life, Leon found joy in two things above all: his family and the open road. He spent countless miles driving his truck, delivering supplies across the country, but when he wasn’t on the road, he could be found on his beloved farm, surrounded by the things he loved most. His family meant the world to him, and nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with them.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Betty Smith Story, of Alpine, TN, and his children: Kim Smith (Steven) and Ashley Story, both of Alpine, TN, and Jeff Story (Jenny) of Monroe, TN. Leon’s legacy also lives on through his grandchildren, Dustin Collins (Shawna), Jake Collins (Kayleah), Dustin Linder, Cole Story, Cade Story, Marissa Speck, and Ryder Story. His great-grandchildren, Silas, Sadee, and Liam Collins, brought him immense joy in his later years. Leon will also be greatly missed by his brother, Jerry Story, and son-in-law, Jeff Collins, both of whom preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, March 28, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Livingston Funeral Home, with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home, with Bro. John Copeland and Bro. Darek Copeland officiating. Following the service, Leon will be laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery, where he will forever rest alongside his loved ones.

As we celebrate his life, Leon’s family asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. The bonds of love and the memories they shared with Leon will forever remain in their hearts.
