Martin “Marty” Russell Garrett, 67, passed from this life on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Marty was born September 1, 1957 in Akron, OH to the parents of the late Edwin and Peggy Robbins Garrett of Allons, TN. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his sister Juliet Kim Garrett of Livingston, TN.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lounetta Maynord Garrett of Allons, TN. Sons: Stephen Garrett, and wife Jaime of Antioch, TN. Russell Garrett of Nashville, TN. Grandchildren: Ethan Carter Garrett, Wesley Garrett, Cooper Garrett and Savannah Garrett all of Antioch, TN. Marty was also survived by his sister Lisa Coil, and husband Chris Coil of Allons, TN. Nephew Ivan Coil, and wife Hannah Coil and niece Emma Coil.

Marty was a graduate of Livingston Academy, class of 1975. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a degree in biology. Marty was a lifelong member of Allons Baptist Church, where he was music and choir director for several years. Marty loved fishing for smallmouth bass on Dale Hollow Lake. He was an avid sports fan and especially rooted for the Big Orange! Marty adored spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed recounting memories and telling stories of days gone by with friends and loved ones. Marty was known by many as a great singer and musician. He enjoyed performing music and continued to write his own original songs.

Pallbearers: Josh Copeland, Anthony Woolbright, Ivan Coil, Robbie Robbins, Gerald Durran Lewis, and Roy Lee Seber. Honorary Pallbearers: Emma Coil, Danny Maynord, and Dwain Maynord.

Funeral services for Martin Garrett will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Livingston Funeral Home with burial to follow at Garrett Cemetery.  Bro. Chris Coil will be officiating. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, December 4th starting at 5pm until 8pm.
