Livingston Funeral Home - Marvin C. Norrod

Funeral Services for Mr. Marvin C. Norrod, age 92, of Monroe will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.  Bro. John Copeland will officiate.  Burial to follow in the Grant Norrod Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m., then on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services at Livingston Funeral Home. 

Marvin passed from this life on Monday morning, July 12, 2021 from the Morningside Assisted Living in Cookeville, TN.  He was born in Overton County, Tennessee on September 17, 1928 to the late Benton and Dessie Coleman Norrod.  Marvin was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Alpine, TN.

Marvin and Vada were married February 8th, 1948 and celebrated their 73rd anniversary this year. He worked at Cumberland and Livingston furniture factories doing upholstery until he retired. His true enjoyment was growing a garden and farming. He loved everything about farming but especially cattle. He greatly loved his family and friends. He and Vada always had lots of family at their home through the many years....Kids, grandkids, in-laws, siblings, nieces and nephews and neighbors. If he wasn't farming, he loved nothing more than sitting around with loved ones talking and laughing. He was an honest Christian man that lived his life very simply with great dignity and love throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Marvin leaves behind his wife Vada Hull Norrod of Monroe, TN; sons, Gary Norrod and wife Victoria of Siler City, NC, and Mark Norrod and wife Patti of Elkhart, IN; daughters, Phyllis Nix of Semmes, AL, and Sandy Shumate of Cookeville, TN; brothers, Melvin Norrod of Monroe, TN, Cecil Norrod and wife Ann of Glasgow, KY, and Dorman Norrod and wife Patty of Akron, OH; sister, Thelma Phillips and husband Wally of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Roman Norrod and wife Ami of OH, Rene Norrod McGovney and husband Ron of NC, Robin Norrod O'Brien and husband Chris of AL, Matthew Garrett and wife Offie of NC, and Summer Garrett of AL; 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his infant son, Steve Terry Norrod; sister, Marion "Toots" Hull and infant daughter.
