Ronnie Keith Barnes, age 77, passed away Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024. Ronnie was born in the farmstead home that his grandfather built in 1927 in Livingston, TN. The home later came to be known as “Hawg Heaven”. 

Ron attended MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN, during which time he met Glenda Diane Harper, who had recently graduated from  college in nearby Nashville, TN and was working as a school teacher. Ron and Glenda married in West Virginia in August 1967. Ron had enlisted to serve in the US Air Force and soon after marrying he and Glenda were stationed in England where they met many lifelong friends.

Ron and Glenda moved back to Tennessee and eventually became parents to Gatha Renae and lived for many years in Nashville, where Ron worked for UPS and Glenda was a school teacher. 

In 2013, Ron relocated from Mt. Juliet, TN to reside at his beloved Hawg Heaven, coming full circle to the place of his birth. He enjoyed living at the farm and especially loved mowing and raising a garden and livestock. After a bout with illness, Ron moved to NHC Place Sumner where he lived in an apartment and participated in outings and activities and as with anywhere else he had been in the world, he made countless friends. 

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Glenda and his parents Hoyt and Ruby Ann Barnes. Ron is survived by his daughter Gatha Renae Barnes Frizsell and “son”-in-law Mike Frizsell.

Ron will be fondly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.  Mr. Hunter Steinmetz will officiate.  Burial to follow in the Freedonia Cemetery with Military Honors provided at Graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will welcome friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the Livingston Funeral Home.
