Mrs. Thelma Denton Stewart Bowers, age 87, of Cookeville, passed away from the comforts of her home on March 16, 2025. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Poplar Springs Cemetery with JoAnn Reed officiating. 

Thelma was born on January 27, 1938 in Livingston, TN to the late Clure and Auda Bilbrey Stewart. She married Raymond Bowers and they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage together. She enjoyed sewing, painting, working in her flower garden, watching Andy Griffith and Murder She Wrote, but she especially loved to dance. 

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her sons, Kenneth Bowers of Cookeville, TN and James Clay Bowers of Hardys Chapel, TN; grandchildren, Jason Bowers and wife, Julie, Chad Huffer and wife, Juanita, and Michael Huffer; great-grandchildren, Michael Nathaniel Huffer, Matthew Huffer, Cameron Bowers, and Logan Bowers; step-grandchild, Brandon Breeding; special nephew, Gerard Hooks; several nieces and nephews also survive. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bowers; daughters, Debra Bowers and Teresa Bowers Huffer; sister, Linda Gentry, and special niece, Melba Jean Swallows.
