Born at home in Pickett County, Tennessee, on May 24, 1934, to the late James Halton Taylor and Lillian Logan Taylor, Wayne lived a simple and hardworking life. After graduating high school, he served his country in the United States Army, a duty he carried out with pride and humility. Upon returning home, he married Brenda Jolley in 1958, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion.
Wayne spent many years working as a small engine repairman at Winningham's Hardware Store, where his skill and dedication were appreciated by many. He found joy in life's quiet moments—spending time fishing, caring for his dogs, and enjoying the company of his family and friends.
Wayne is survived by:
Wife: Brenda Taylor of Monroe, TN.
Son: David Taylor and wife Sherry of Monroe, TN.
Granddaughters: Brandi Boles Underhill (husband Rick) of Kansas City, MO, and Emily Taylor of Monroe, TN.
Son-in-law: Kenny Hancock (wife Janet) of Mt. Juliet, TN.
Sister: Joyce Brown of Allons, TN.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Kay Hancock, and siblings: Hazel Fugate, Dimples Cantrell, Sue Neal, Marie Pryor, James "Pete" Taylor, Ward "Hamp" Taylor, and Betty Marlon.
Wayne was a quiet, steadfast presence in the lives of those who loved him. He approached life with humility, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. His love for his family was his greatest pride, and his memory will live on in their hearts.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” – Matthew 5:5
