Graveside Services for Mrs. Betty Jane McDonald Abbott, age 91, of Livingston, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Miller Cemetery, with Bro. Grant Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends at Speck Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until time to depart for the cemetery.

Mrs. Betty passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born at home on August 14, 1934, to the late Elliott “Tick” and Myrtle Daisy Brown McDonald.

A lifelong resident of Livingston, Betty worked for many years as a seamstress. She was known for her love of cooking, sewing, and especially her passion for roses and flowers.

She is survived by her children:

Elizabeth Ann Ledbetter of Livingston

Bobby Joe Abbott, Larry Gene Abbott, and Roger Abbott, all of Livingston

Mark Abbott of Rickman

Ricky Glen Abbott and wife Connie of the Copeland Cove Community

Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters Diane Worley, Patricia Gore (Tommy), and Jo Ann Greenwood, all of Livingston; Joyce Bilbrey of Red Boiling Springs; and brother Danny McDonald (Kathy) of Allons.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.T. Abbott, daughter Shelia Marie Ledbetter, grandson Rocky Dishman, brothers Gary and Cecil McDonald, sisters Lillie Mae Pennington and Edith Murphy, son-in-law Robert Ledbetter, and daughters-in-law Teresa Abbott and Beth Hall.
