Speck Funeral Home - Bill Schroeder Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Mr. William "Bill" Albert Schroeder
With both sadness and joy in our hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. William "Bill" Albert Schroeder, age 81, of Rickman, Tennessee, who peacefully passed away at home on April 1, 2025. Born on May 17, 1943, in Glendale, California, Bill was the son of the late Herman Carl and Gwendolyn Lucile Berry Schroeder.
Bill attended the Livingston Church of Christ, where he found both spiritual strength and fellowship. After a successful career as a Senior Vice President in Banking, Bill and his wife, Sandra of 56 years, packed up their lives in Utah and traded city life for the rolling hills of Overton County, Tennessee. The couple quickly fell in love with the charm of their new surroundings, enjoying the peace and beauty that came with the hills and hollers of this part of the world. Bill graduated Pius High school and then attended and graduated Cal Poly, Pomona College.
A lifelong baseball fan, Bill never let age slow him down. He was an avid player in the senior softball league, and his passion for the game took him on exciting travels all over the country. Whether playing on the field or just watching from the stands, baseball was a big part of Bill's life and a great source of joy.
Bill was known for his sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and honesty that was as genuine as the day was long. He loved nothing more than sharing a good laugh with family and friends. Bill and Sandra also had a special tradition of taking family camping trips to national parks across the U.S. These adventures created a lifetime of memories and helped bring the family even closer together, making sure there was always fun to be had, no matter where they went.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra Lou Moran Schroeder, of Rickman, TN; daughters, Melissa Zapata (and husband Alex) of California, and Stacy Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Kyle Meier, Haley Wilson, and Colby Wilson; his sisters, Alice Schroeder and Teresa Stadig, both of Utah; and his brother, Jim Schroeder of Texas. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Albert.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held in California at a later date.
Bill’s legacy will forever live on through the love, laughter, and wisdom he shared with all of us. While we will miss his stories, his humor, and his presence, we know that his spirit is resting in peace, knowing he left this world a better place, one smile at a time.
