Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Howard Nolen, 87, of Monroe, will be conducted at 12 noon, Monday, December 1, 2025, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.
Howard passed away on November 27, 2025, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Born on August 7th, 1938, to Vesta Nolen, Howard was a man who deeply valued a hard day’s work.
Howard is survived by his son Tim and his wife Debra Nolen of Monroe; his grandsons Tate Nolen and Tanner Nolen and his wife Cora; and his great-grandchildren Tulson Wade Nolen, Timothy Ryder Nolen, Zaidee Jo Nolen, and Macie Tate Nolen. He is also survived by many other beloved relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother and by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Nancy Nolen.
Howard never shied away from a hard day’s work. He spent many years ensuring that roads were built to exact specifications as a construction supervisor for Interstate Construction Company. Known for his hands-on approach, he often climbed into the seat of a dozer himself to make sure the job was done right. He also loved working on the family farm in Monroe. Free time was rare—Howard believed there was always work to be done—but he treasured every moment spent with his family.
Pallbearers to serve are; Tanner Nolen, Tate Nolen, Sherman Garrett, Nathan Reeder, Dallas Whited, and Cade Poston.
Howard leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering dedication. He taught by example, showing his family the value of hard work and deep devotion.
