Speck Funeral Home - Charles Leroy Eldridge Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mr. Charles Leroy "Chucky" Eldridge
Age 95, of Allons, Tennessee
Brother Charles Leroy "Chucky" Eldridge went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, April 19, 2025, from Overton County Health and Rehab. He was born on November 13, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James Walton Eldridge, Sr., and Helen Marie Lee Eldridge.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Keith will officiate. Burial will follow in Coffee Cemetery, where military honors will be provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6 until 10 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
Charles faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was held as a Prisoner of War for a short time. He also served in the Tennessee National Guard. Through every challenge, he leaned on his faith and worked diligently to care for his family.
For over sixty years, Charles was a devoted member and deacon of Allons Baptist Church. Since 1961, he lovingly maintained the church and took part in much of the building’s construction. He found deep joy in serving the Lord through humble, hands-on work for the church and its people. His quiet life of service was a powerful testimony of faith, love, and commitment.
He is lovingly remembered by:
His daughters: Patricia Ann Hopper of Spencer, TN, and Debra Day and husband Earl of Allons, TN
His grandson: Robert Day and wife Lisa of Allons, TN
His great-granddaughter: Shawna Day Clark and husband Connor of Spokane, WA
His special daughters by heart: Jean Coffee, and Verta Williams and husband Tom, all of Cookeville, TN
Charles was reunited in Heaven with those who went before him:
His beloved wife of 66 years: Ottie Lorine Morrow Eldridge
His son: Charles Allen Eldridge
His sister: Mary Lou Eldridge
His brothers: James Walton Eldridge, Jr., Shirley Eldridge, Robert Eldridge, and Joe Eldridge
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Quality Home Health Care, especially Tonya and Rachel, for their compassion and devoted care.
A special appreciation is extended to Lisa, who lovingly rearranged her life and schedule to make sure "Pa" never went without. Her dedication and sacrifice brought him comfort and joy in his final years, and the family is forever grateful.
Brother Charles lived a quiet, faithful life dedicated to God, family, and community. He has now received his eternal reward and rests in the presence of his Savior.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:21
