Speck Funeral Home- Cheryl Savage Obituary
Cheryl Savage, 73, of Alpine, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on July 9, 2025.
She was born in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Clester and Effie Savage — the beginning of a life filled with love, compassion, and service to others.
Cheryl devoted 43 years to the Overton County school system, where she poured her heart into the lives of countless students. She believed in the power of education, but even more, she believed in the potential of every child. Her classroom was a place of kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support. Cheryl always put her students first — and in doing so, left a lasting mark on the community she cherished. She loved her family deeply and extended that love to everyone around her. Her presence was steady, her heart generous, and her faith unshakable. Cheryl lived quietly but meaningfully, and those fortunate enough to know her will never forget her gentle strength and grace.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary LeFever, and her cherished nieces and nephews:
Scott Cantrell and Kristi Garrett, Jim LeFever, Robert LeFever, Susan Cowan, Georgia Knott, Lisa Sokol, Jennifer LeFever, and Vickie LeFever. She was also a proud great-aunt to:
Dakota and Katie Cantrell, Dusty and LB Cantrell, Dylan and Rachel Cantrell, Austin Cowan, Aiden Cowan, and Jamie and Michael Castle.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Savage Cantrell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Vaughn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, July 11th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers to serve are Dakota Cantrell, Dusty Cantrell, Dylan Cantrell, Austin Cowan, Aiden Cowan, and Micheal Castle
Cheryl’s life was a reflection of kindness, service, and deep faith — a quiet light that shone brightly in the lives of others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
