Graveside services for Mr. Danny McCoy Staggs, age 77 of Livingston, will be conducted 2 pm Saturday, November 28th, from the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Roger Phillips will officiate. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.
Danny passed from this life on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Overton County on June 16, 1946, to the late Estel and Velma Gore Staggs.
Danny proudly served as an officer with the Livingston Police Department beginning in 1974 and as a deputy with the Overton County Sheriff's Department until his retirement in 1994 after more than 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on automobiles.
Danny leaves behind his wife of 58 years Wilma Shelton Staggs of Livingston; son Danny W. Staggs and wife Sandy of Livingston; daughter Sherlyn Maynard and husband Chris of Baxter; grandchildren Jonathan Thomas of Cookeville and Amanda Staggs of Nashville; and brothers Jackie Staggs and wife Kay of Allons and Kenny Staggs and wife Connie of Allons.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Staggs was preceded in death by his brothers Donald Staggs and Ronnie "Buddy" Staggs and sisters Jimmie Mae Cravens and Janie Maynard.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Overton County Ambulance Service, Livingston Police Department, Livingston Regional Hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center Critical Care Unit, Caris Hospice, and Speck Funeral Home for the care and compassion shown to us and our loved one.
