Mr. Darius Sims, 76 of Monroe TN was born on March 29th 1950 and passed from this life on April 3rd 2026 at his home in Monroe.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 7th from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home at 12 noon. The family will welcome friends to visit and share on Monday April 6th from 5 until 9 PM. The family will also be available on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of the service at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow at the family home in Monroe after the service. Brother Mark Garner will be serving as the officiant at the funeral.

Darius worked for the City of Livingston as the building inspector for over 30 years. He was named Citizen of the Year in 2016 in Livingston. 

Darius is preceded in death by his parents Joe Harrison Sims and Alma Mae Sells Sims, his infant sister Peggy Sue Sims, his "Grandy" Will Sims, and several cousins. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Susan Elaine Ray Sims of Monroe. 

Darius was the proud father of Christy Harris (husband Johnny), Stevie Sims (wife Tonya) and Charles Sims. He is also survived by daughter in law Tammy Sims of Monroe. He was the proud grandfather of Ridge Harris of Jamestown, River Harris (wife Alaina) of Monroe, Madisyn Kelley (husband John) of Crossville, Will Sims (wife Salem) of Algood, Makynlee Hollars (husband Aubrey) of Knoxville, Jaxson Sims of Allons, Allison Ford of Allons, and Alexis Phillips of Allons. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.

Darius lived a life of selfless devotion to his family, his community, and his Lord. In addition to his employment with the City of Livingston, Darius also served on the Overton County School Board, and was a pastor for several years including years of service to Neely's Crossroads Church of Christ. While Darius will be missed by many, his legacy of love will carry forward in the hearts of many he touched.
