Funeral Services for Mr. Donald A. Fleming, age 90, of Oakley Allons Community will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Alan Judd will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
Donald Ausbert Fleming passed from this life on Monday morning, October 7, 2024, at his home in the Oakley Allons Community surrounded by his loving family. Born at home on March 17, 1934, in Overton County, Tennessee to the late Fowler and Linnie Swift Fleming. He was a 1951 graduate of Livingston Academy.
After High School he went to work for the shirt factory then began his career at the UCEMC where he started out as a groundman. He then would advance to becoming a supervisor of several crews from the age of 24 and retired at the age of 64 years. His second family was the UCEMC of which he devoted 40 years.
He was also a very active and dedicated member of the Lions Club where he served devoted over 40 years of service to our community. Some of his fondest memories was checking children's eyes at the schools for Overton County and let's not forget all the Lion Burgers he flipped at the Overton County Fair. He also enjoyed being part of the Overton County Cattleman's Association. Donald was known as a dedicated Christian whom he served as an Elder at the Allons Church of Christ for 50 years. Out of all his service work for Overton County his most important service was for the Lord.
He loved spending time with family and friends and some of his greatest memories was watching UT games especially traveling to watch them play. He enjoyed working in the yard, farming and watching the cattle graze. Donald is known for his dedication, honesty, loyalty and commitment. He was a hard worker who loved giving to his family and the Lord.
Donald leaves behind his daughter, Donna Looper and husband Danny of Rickman, TN; grandchildren, Russ Robbins and wife Amanda of Allon, TN, and Ramona Maynord and husband Doug of Livingston, TN; great-grandsons, Heston and Harper Robbins, and Trevor and Tanner Brown of Livingston, TN; sisters, Sarah Wyatt of Crossville, TN, Sadie Smith of Allons, TN, Virginia Simpson of Cookeville, TN, and Ethel White of Livingston, TN; brother-in-laws, Jerry Matthews and wife Barbara of Livingston, TN; and sister-in-law, Louise Matthews of Livingston, TN; also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Frances Matthews Fleming; brothers, Billy Frank Fleming, and James Walter Fleming; brothers-in-law, David Wyatt, George Simpson, Bobby Smith, Alan White, and Billy Joe Matthews.
Pallbearers to serve are Russ Robbins, Doug Maynord, Heston Robbins, Harper Robbins, Trevor Brown, Tanner Brown, and Matthew Harvey.
Honorary Pallbearers are Chig Parrott, and Jerry Flowers.
