Speck Funeral Home - Dr. Richard Cook Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Richard F. Cook, age 76, who left this earthly realm to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. Born on March 17, 1948, in Seattle, Washington, Richard was the beloved son of the late James Fay Cook and Jessie JoAnn Meyers Cook. His life was one of service, love, and faith, leaving a lasting legacy of spiritual guidance and devotion.

Richard was a devoted servant of God, holding a Masters of Divinity obtained in 2004 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Kings College obtained in 2007. He taught his classes with passion and was beloved by his students. As a member of the Livingston Life Church, he found great joy in ministering throughout his life, sharing the Word of God with all who crossed his path. He had a beautiful singing voice that he used to glorify God, and he was deeply passionate about reading scripture, enjoying music, and watching westerns that often reflected his deep-rooted values.

A lover of Tennessee football, Dutch Brothers Coffee, and cherished moments with family and friends, Richard also found honor in serving on the board of NOR-CAL Teen Challenge, further spreading his spirit of love and service. His life was a testament to faith, love, and kindness.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mrs. Janie Nivens Cook of Allons, TN; son, Richard "Rich" Cook and wife Adriana of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, April Jones and husband Robert of Ripley, TN, and Laurel Gann and husband Matt of Kalispell, MT; 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 half-siblings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his unwavering love and faith.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sisters. His life exemplified the love and grace of God, and he now rests in the eternal peace of His embrace.

A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, with Bro. Don Cartledge officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Allons. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, February 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
