Speck Funeral Home - Eunice Burgess Obituary

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Mrs. Eunice Marie Danner Burgess, age 85, of Hilham, Tennessee will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., Sunday, February 21, from the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Livingston.  A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Eunice Burgess passed from this life on Thursday morning, February 18, 2021 from the Overton County Health and Rehab.  She was born at home in the Hilham community on August 20, 1935 to the late Amos Wayne and Ollie Lee Livingston Danner.  She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Livingston.  Eunice loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much.  She enjoyed gardening, rock hunting, bird watching, crocheting, cooking, holding her dog Penny, going to Church, and singing gospel music.  Eunice, her sister Anna Danner and friend Peggy Smith, used to sing in their younger years at various Church events.  They were known as the Danner Sisters.  She had a green thumb for gardening as evident at home in Hilham where she had among other flowers, roses, and tall elephant ears.  Eunice was also a great cook and loved sharing meals with her family and friends.  Most people will remember her fried apple pies.

Eunice leaves behind her sons, Gregory Burgess and wife Michelle of Hilham, TN, Jeffrey Burgess and wife Denise of Baxter, TN, and Robert "Bobby" Burgess and wife Paula of Livingston, TN; grandchildren, Crystal Colson and husband Scott, Beth Phelps and husband Reggie, Tiffany Coburn and husband Michael, Ciara Livingston-Pigg and husband Ian, Parker Burgess, Michael Burgess, Thomas Burgess, Leatha Dunn and husband Larry, Justin Vickers, Erica Hunter, and Sydney Hunter; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Haskell Paul Burgess; brother, Earl Waymon Danner, and sister, Anna Dell Danner.

Memorial Donations in Memory of Mrs. Eunice Burgess may be made to the Campground Cemetery Fund.
