Funeral Services for Mr. Gary Gene Hollars, age 79 of Hilham, will be conducted 10 AM Thursday, June 23rd, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. Terry Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 PM.
Gary passed from this life on Monday afternoon, June 20, 2022, from his residence. He was born in Hilham on May 17, 1943, to the late Elmer and Mary Masters Hollars. He loved hunting and was a dead eye in his younger days. He liked playing cards and working on anything mechanical. In the past, Gary built a 1934 Ford, built engines for Hydroplane racing boats, and was a master welder and electrician. He served his community as a former county commissioner and was a technical advisor for TCAT.
Mr. Hollars leaves behind his daughter Gretchen Hollars and Furthur Holiner of Hilham; son J.J. Hollars and wife Ginny of Livingston; special friend Darlene Pennington of Hilham; grandchildren Peter Hollars of Knoxville, Caroline Hollars of Livingston, and Aubrey Hollars of Livingston; brother Leon Hollars and wife Elaine of Hilham; brother-in-law Beco Hamilton of Alpine; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hollars was preceded in death by his wife Lolita Hollars; infant daughter Michal Hollars; brother Harold Hollars; sisters June Dewitt, Kathleen "Kat" Deck, and Wanda Hollars; and cousins Ronald Hollars and Wayne Gilpatrick.
Pallbearers to serve are Peter Hollars, Aubrey Hollars, Matt Doika, Danny England, Ed Walker, and Breeze Hamilton.
