Funeral Services for Mrs. Gladys Ilene Hooks, age 92, of Livingston, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Pastor John Cahill will officiate, with burial to follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in the Hardys Chapel Community. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gladys passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born on August 21, 1932, in Livingston, Tennessee, to the late Hubert and Bessie Collins Thompson. Gladys was a gentle, loving woman who found great joy in the simple things—her faith, her family, and the warm gatherings around her dinner table. A faithful member of the Shiloh Church, she was a constant presence, always eager to share her love of the Lord with others. Her heart was full of kindness, and she loved to care for those around her.

Her family meant everything to her, and she showed them unwavering love every day. She is survived by her son, Phillip Hooks and wife Kelly of Cookeville, TN; her grandchildren, Brandon Hooks and fiancée Mollie Dowland of Knoxville, TN, and Kristen Lee and husband Jay of Cookeville, TN; her great-grandchildren, Zayden, Chloe, and Josie Lee; her sister, Brenda Sullivan and husband Bill of Livingston, TN; her brother, Ricky Thompson of Livingston, TN; her special aunt, Thelma Bowers of Gallatin, TN; and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, James Earl Hooks; her brothers, Ray, Joe, Winton, Ronnie, Bennie, and Kennie Thompson; and her sister, Virginia Dailey.

Gladys will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity of spirit, and the unconditional love she gave to everyone in her life.

Pallbearers to serve are David Sullivan, Richard Benjamin, Taylor Thompson, Logan Thompson, Bruce Thompson, and Mark Thompson.
