Speck Funeral Home - Hairel Coleman Obituary

It is with honor and gratitude that we announce the passing of Mr. Larry Hairel Coleman, age 79, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of Monroe, Tennessee. Hairel peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Harold Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Overton County Memorial Gardens, where Hairel will be laid to rest. The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Born on July 14, 1945, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late William Odell and Della Mae Stover Coleman, Hairel’s life was a testament to love, family, and faith. A proud 1963 graduate of Livingston Academy, he spent his years doing what he loved with the people he cherished. He was a long-time member of the Warren Michigan Missionary Baptist Church, where he found comfort and strength in his faith.

Hairel was a man of simple joys but profound impact. He loved the quiet moments spent fishing, whether alone in peaceful solitude or with a friend enjoying the calm of the water. But more than anything, Hairel was a family man through and through. His greatest pride was watching his children and grandchildren grow and thrive, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at ballgames, always the first to be there with a smile, a wave, and a word of encouragement.

He also enjoyed the routine of staying active, often seen at the gym, where he maintained his health and made time to socialize with his many friends. Hairel was known for his love of card games, and whether it was a quiet game with family or a lively gathering with friends, he always brought warmth, laughter, and a spirit of fun. His kind, easygoing nature made him a joy to be around.

Hairel’s legacy lives on through his family, who will always remember his unwavering love, wisdom, and support. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Anna Joyce Whited Coleman, who was the love of his life; his daughter, Carolyn Rust and husband Brent of Morrison, TN; sons, Tony Coleman and wife Rene of Hermitage, TN, and Greg Coleman and wife Denise of Monroe, TN. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he is survived by Tristica Coleman and Travis Copeland, Aria Beaty and husband Curtis, Anton Coleman and wife Brittany, Trent Walker and wife Amanda, Bree Rust, Shelby Rickard and husband Jeffery, and Garrett Coleman and wife Madison. He was also deeply loved by his great-grandchildren: Anna Kay Copeland, Indi Ann Beaty, Paxton Coleman, Grayson Coleman, Hallie Coleman, Waylon Coleman, Tatum Moran, Griffin Walker, and Camilla Walker.

Hairel was preceded in death by his parents, William Odell and Della Mae Coleman; his brothers, Pall H. Coleman, A.B. Coleman, and Bruce Coleman; and his sister, Dean White. While he has been taken from us too soon, we take comfort knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all who have been a part of Hairel’s life. Your love, friendship, and support have meant the world to him. We will forever carry his memory in our hearts, and we find peace knowing his legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in each of us.

Pallbearers to honor Hairel’s memory are Garrett Coleman, Anton Coleman, Curtis Beaty, Trent Walker, Travis Copeland, and Jeffery Rickard.
