Hazel A. Sanford, age 87, of Jackson and Livingston, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Born on May 6, 1938, in Bedford County, Virginia, Hazel was the cherished daughter of Raynor and Rilda Anderson. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and joy—always ready with a smile and a warm sense of humor. Her devotion to God, her family, friends, and neighbors was unwavering and evident to all who knew her.

Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Arlie Sanford, who passed in 2010. Arlie was the light of her life, and their enduring love was a blessing to witness. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Lawrence Earl Sanford, who passed away at the age of 45 in 2003; her sisters, Virginia Anderson and Helen Orange; and her brothers, James and Billy Ray Anderson.

She is survived by her son, A.D. Sanford and wife Pam, of Livingston, TN, with whom she made her home for the past two years; her grandson, Ethan Sanford of Three Way, TN; and her step-grandson, Brooks Gore (Amanda) of Christiana, TN. Hazel also leaves behind her sister, Nancy Whiteaker of Jackson, TN; and her brother, Clayton Anderson (Kathi) of Bedford, VA.

Hazel found great joy and strength in her church family at Pleasant Ridge Full Gospel Church in Henderson, TN. Her faith continued to grow throughout her life, and she always believed deeply in God as her provider and caretaker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home, 300 N. Church St., Livingston, TN.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens, 3360 N. Highland Ave., Jackson, TN. All friends and family are invited to attend.
