Mr. James Larry Hawkins, age 79, of Monroe, Tennessee, passed away on Friday evening, February 28, 2025, at the Signature Health Care Center in Algood, Tennessee. He was born on June 26, 1945, in the Alpine Community, to the late Reesee and Allie Ledbetter Hawkins.
Mr. Hawkins, affectionately known as "Hawk," was a long haul truck driver for many years, a profession that took him across the country and brought him many stories and experiences. He also had a deep love for gardening, continuing the family tradition of growing Case Knife Beans. In his free time, Hawk enjoyed coon hunting with friends and cherished the friendships and bonds that came with his hobbies.
Hawk is survived by his sister, Bertha Hawkins Stoner of Livingston, TN; nephews Benny Parsons and wife Renee, Jonathan Hawkins and wife Bethany, and Perry Hawkins; nieces Jennifer Holland and husband Randy, Julie Brown and husband Scott, and Jodi Stoner McDonald; as well as several great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Beverly Hawkins of Alpine, TN, and many good friends, especially Johnny and Lisa Ledbetter, along with their dog Sally.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reesee and Allie Ledbetter Hawkins; brothers Joe and Bill Hawkins; and sister Betty Parsons.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Green Hill Cemetery, Bro. Todd Craig will officiate with family welcoming friends at the graveside.
