Mrs. Janie S. Norrod passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Eastgate Manor in Washington, IN, with her family by her side after bravely fighting a terminal illness. She was born on January 5, 1945, in Allons, Tennessee, to the late James "Andrew" Buck and Alva Gore Buck. Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Norrod, two older sisters, Jesse Nell Buck Maynard of Cookeville, TN, and Sharah Mae Buck Webb of Livingston, TN.
On December 2, 1961, Janie married the love of her life, Thomas E. Norrod of Monroe, TN. Together, they raised two children, Thomas "Mark" Norrod and Melissa Jane Norrod Schnarr, both of Washington, IN.
Janie’s greatest joys were her grandchildren: Landon Wyatt Norrod, son of Thomas "Mark" Norrod and Robbin Baggett, who resides in Shelbyville, TN; Ashley Kate Schnarr Warfield of Bloomington, IN; and Kylle Marie Schnarr of Washington, IN, daughters of Joseph "Scott" Schnarr and Melissa Jane Norrod Schnarr. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, little Elliana Jane Warfield, daughter of Kawon Warfield and Ashley Kate Schnarr Warfield of Bloomington, IN. Her heart overflowed with love for her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Janie was a dedicated homemaker who also worked outside the home in various roles, including as a hotel front desk clerk at the Overton Motel in Livingston, TN, in a textile factory, as a seamstress, and as a grocery store cashier. However, her greatest pride was her family. Janie was a devout Christian and a long-standing member of the Churches of Christ. She took great joy in raising her children with the teachings of Christ and lived her faith with strength and grace every day of her life.
An avid gardener, Janie had a natural green thumb and loved spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed cooking and, above all, adored spending time with her grandchildren and infant great-granddaughter, Elliana Jane, during the last months of her life.
Janie's memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and all who knew and loved her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose legacy of faith, love, and devotion will never be forgotten.
