Funeral Services for Mrs. Jonelda Bowers Sells, age 91, of Monroe, Tennessee will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.  Bro. Timmy Ray will officiate.  Burial to follow in the Sells Cemetery on Cherokee Lane.  The family will welcome friends on Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Jonelda passed from this life on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, from the Overton County Health and Rehab.  She was born at home in Monroe on September 23, 1932, to the late Gene Carl and Sylvia Allred Bowers.  Jonelda worked for many years as a seamstress in Livingston.  She was last a member of the Livingston First Baptist Church, but for many years she worshiped at the Fellowship Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.  Jonelda was very smart in school, and was able to skip the second grade.  She loved writing poetry and won many awards from doing so.  She also enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren Cooking for her entire family brought her great joy.  

Jonelda leaves behind her  daughters, Patricia Sells of Monroe, TN, Sharon White and husband Johnny of Livingston, TN, and Sue Preston of Cookeville, TN; sisters, Anomi Davis and husband James of Huber Heights, OH, and Brenda Mauro and husband Joseph of Tip City, OH; grandchildren, Stacy Johnson, Jason Worley, Amy White, David Preston, and Brittany Bowers; great-grandchildren, Katlyn McCann and husband Damion, Thomas Johnson, and Magnolia Preston; great-great-grandchildren, Haisley and Madiline McCann.

In addition to her parents, Jonelda was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Sells, and brothers, Paul, Cecil, and Lonnie Bowers.

Pallbearers to serve are Johnny White, David Preston, Jason Worley, Thomas Johnson, Damion McCann, Stacy Johnson, Brittany Bowers, and Amy White.
