Speck Funeral Home- Larry E. Savage Obituary
Mr. Larry Eddie Savage, age 79, of Allons, Tennessee, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home on the family farm in Willow Grove. He was surrounded by the loving embrace of his family, including his cherished wife of 44 years, Judy Caroline Savage.
Born in Livingston, Tennessee, on August 1, 1946, to the late E.J. and Edeth Charity Savage, Larry spent his entire energetic and entrepreneurial life in Overton and Clay Counties. His deep family roots trace back through his grandparents, William (Willie) and Effie Coffee and Millard and Mary Jane Savage, who helped establish the community his family still calls home.
Larry began his working life in Livingston, where he owned and operated Larry’s Food Market for more than 20 years. After 15 years of logging, he and Judy launched Judy’s Clothing in the 1980s, dressing much of Overton County for nearly a decade. In the early 1990s, the couple successfully ventured into real estate and development, once again working side by side. Throughout their four-and-a-half decades of marriage, Larry and Judy were inseparable—one was rarely seen without the other.
A lifelong hunter, avid farmer, and gifted gardener, Larry was celebrated for his green thumb, producing fruits, vegetables, and flowers that nourished both the family table and the spirit of those around him. A skilled cook as well, he was best known for making breakfast daily for Judy. With his iconic daily uniform of Levi’s, a two-pocket cotton shirt, boat shoes, and a baseball cap, Larry was a familiar and beloved local figure, often found “playing in the dirt” or preparing a meal for his family.
Larry is survived by the love of his life his wife, Judy; daughters Laura Jean Chaffins (Dan) and Glenda Marie Breeze (Dominic); sons Michael Larry Savage, David Wayne Savage, Barry Eugene Harvey (Jennifer), and Larry Jonathan Savage (Bradley); grandchildren Dereck L. Neal, Kayla L. Rich, Jeremy L. Neal, Joshua G. Turner, Dylan L. Savage, Travis R. Savage, David Ross Savage, Jordan T. Harvey, Jessica K. Harvey; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Donnie (Billie Jean) Savage, Virginia (Ray) Sawyer, Rita (Ritchey) Qualls, Shirley (Perry) Roberson, Janice (Paul) Helton, Mary (Wayne) Allen, Robert (Judy) Savage, and Lesa (Billy) Phillips, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Lucille (Terry) Rutherford, brothers Jimmy (Georgia), Allen (Wanda), and Wayne Savage, and grandson Jacob E. (Tammy) Turner.
The Savage family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nursing team for their compassionate care, kindness, and attention to Larry in his final days. Your love and dedication will never be forgotten.
