Funeral Services for Mr. Larry Wayne "Bossy" Gunnels, age 69, of Livingston will be conducted 5 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with a Masonic Service immediately preceding the funeral at 5 PM. Bro. Jim England and Dr. L.G. Puckett will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors provided at Graveside, by the Cookeville Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
Mr. Larry Gunnels passed from this life on Sunday afternoon in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born in Livingston, Tennessee on September 2, 1952 to the late Garlin and Orpha Murl Ledbetter Gunnels. Larry was a 1971 graduate of Livingston Academy and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee Tech University. Larry was strong in his faith, and an upstanding Christian man. He was a member of the Stony Point Baptist Church in Albany, Kentucky, and a member of the Livingston Masonic Lodge #259 F&AM. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam and Desert Storm War. Larry was passionate about serving and enjoyed telling stories about serving. He never knew a stranger, and was a true friend by many. Larry loved to laugh and cut up with others, and was very devoted to reading his Bible everyday. He also was involved in many different things for Overton County where he took pride in his work.
Larry leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Charlotte Brown "Pumpkinater" Gunnels of Livingston, TN; step son, Robert Masiongale and wife Sumer of Byrdstown, TN; sisters, Zenith Norrod and husband Gerald of Livingston, TN, and Sue Smith of Ohio; nephew, Stevie Smith and wife Jackie; nieces, Terina Bradley and husband Dave, Cynthia Parrow, Shannon Carney, Cheslea Ford, and Brooke Alberston; great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Jason, and Spencer Smith, Jayce Cooper, Emily McClellan, Grant Bradley, and Addline Ford; sister-in-law, Dawn Thompkins and husband Barry; mother-in-law, Arlene Owens of Albany, KY; father-in-law, Bobby Brown and spouse.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Donith Gunnels; brother-in-law Steve Smith.
Pallbearers to serve are Gary McKenzie, Greg Hargis, Mark Houser, John Mark Windle, Quinton Carpenter, and Dave Bradley.
