Speck Funeral Home - Leona Averitt Obituary

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Jessie Leona McDonald Averitt, age 97, of Livingston will be conducted at a later date.

Mrs. Leona passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, December 31, 2020 from the Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born in the Alpine Community of Overton County, Tennessee on July 14, 1923 to the late John Allen and Myrtle Smith McDonald. A 1941 High School Graduate, then receiving her Associates Degree, Leona taught school in her younger years. A member of the First Christian Church in Livingston, Leona enjoyed being a Community Volunteer Worker for many years.

Leona leaves behind her daughter, Peggy Endicott of Knoxville, TN; son, Ricky Averitt of Livingston, TN; granddaughter, Bethany Endicott-Phier of Livingston, TN.

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Averitt; brother, Charles McDonald; sisters, Clara McDonald, Lou Ann McDonald, and Louise White.
