Speck Funeral Home - Leta Norrod Obituary

Funeral Services for Mrs. Leta Irene Beaty Norrod, age 83, of Monroe will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.  Bro. Nolen Cantrell and Bro. Tommy Johnson will officiate.  Burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Leta passed to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021 from the Morningside Assisted Living of Cookeville, Tennessee.  She was born August 26, 1937 in the Robbinstown Community, in Pickett County, Tennessee to the late Porter and Clara Copeland Beaty.  Leta was lovingly devoted to her husband of sixty-four years and her two sons.  She cherished her relationship with their wives.  She received great joy from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially chocolate gravy.

Her pastimes included sewing, flower gardening and watching birds.  She was an active member of Oakdale Baptist Church.  Throughout her life she served the Lord by teaching Sunday School classes, working in Vacation Bible School and singing.   

Leta would sing for her Lord in the choir and some solos.  She sang in a ladies’ quartet, the Harmonettes, for six years. They sang Southern Gospel music and opened one concert for the Kingsmen Quartet.  Now she is singing His praises with joy to her loving Savior and heavenly Father.

Leta leaves behind her husband, Melvin H. Norrod of Monroe, TN; sons, Allen Norrod and wife Sheila of Hudson, NC, and Sam Norrod and wife Kathi of Horse Cave, KY; grandchildren, Kristina Hoyle and husband Chad, Grant Norrod and wife Heather, Benjamin Norrod and wife Haley, and Brandon Norrod and Fiance Julia; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hoyle, Ryan Norrod, and Madelyn Norrod; sisters, Betty hull and husband Kelly of Allons, TN. and Judy Crabtree of Livingston, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Leta was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Hull; and brother-in-laws, Jim Hull, and Terry Crabtree.

Pallbearers to serve are Grant Norrod, Benjamin Norrod, Brandon Norrod, Jeremy Crabtree, Richard Hull, and Larry Hull.
