Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Russell Ridge, 68, of Livingston, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Private burial will be held at a later date. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
Mr. Ridge passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his home. Lonnie never met a stranger that he didn’t end up calling a friend. He came to know a lot of people during the time he worked at Carwile’s grocery store in Livingston, which later became Price Chopper, and with the morning crew at Hardee’s. The friendships he made while managing the Livingston Pool Hall were ones that became lifelong friends. He continued to play pool throughout his life, entering and winning numerous tournaments around the area. He didn’t let a disabled arm and hand stop him from becoming one of the best pool sharks around. He also loved a good game of dominoes, playing 42 with anyone who wanted to start up a game.
Born September 5, 1953, in Livingston, he was the son of the late Fred and Zora (Burchett) Ridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred (Ridge) Smith and her husband John Thomas “J.T.”, Bonnie Lee Stevens, and Belva Jean Ridge; three brothers, Sherman Ridge, Mack Ridge and wife Kazell, and Frank “Mutt” Ridge; and a special nephew, Robert A. Owens, earlier this year.
Lonnie is survived by a brother, Fred Houston Ridge of Livingston; four special nieces and nephews who cared for him and he loved like they were his own, Rebecca (Smith) Owens and Rachel Smith, both of the Timothy Community, Keith Ridge of Rickman, and Earl Glen Ridge and wife Cynthia of Hilham; many close friends; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Owens, Josh Smith, Tyler Ridge, Nick Burt, Eric Maynord, and all his pool playing and drinking buddies at JD’s.
