Speck Funeral Home - Melissa L. Smith

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Melissa L. Oakley Smith, age 60, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and formerly of Overton County will be conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2022, from the Livingston First Christian Church.  Rev. James Shenko will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Livingston First Christian Church. 

Melissa passed from this life on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Hilton Head.  She was born in Livingston, Tennessee on August 31, 1961, to the late Millard Vaughn Oakley and Roma Weldon Bertram.  She graduated high school from St. Andrews in 1978 and graduated from UT Knoxville in 1985 with a BA degree.  After graduating college, she moved to Hilton Head South Carolina.  Melissa enjoyed various sports, loved the Tennessee Volunteers and doing volunteer work.  She remained connected to her roots in Overton County, Tennessee through her late father Millard V. Oakley.

Melissa leaves behind her daughter, Kendall Smith of Livingston, TN and stepmother, J.J. Oakley of Livingston, TN.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
