Mr. Melvin Horace Norrod went to be with his heavenly Father and loving Savior on Wednesday morning, September 4, 2024, from Cookeville Regional Medical Center.  He was born on October 22, 1931, in Monroe, Tennessee to the late Benton and Odessa Coleman Norrod.  Melvin loved and cherished his wife, Leta Beaty Norrod, till her passing on June 2, 2021, after sixty-four years of marriage.  He was close to his two sons and loved them and their wives dearly.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Melvin enjoyed working and took pride in a job well done.   He served in the Army during the Korean War as a medic.  He worked for Ford Motor Company from 1957 till 1993 and was known for having a high standard in the quality of his work.  Melvin enjoyed having a vegetable garden and farming.  He would serve in many capacities of ministry in the  churches of which he became a member.  He served as a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years.  He was an active member of Oak Dale Baptist Church.

The person who had the highest priority in Melvin Norrod’s life was Jesus Christ.  He worshiped Him not only in word but also in the way he lived his life.  He loved studying God’s Word and conveying what he had learned through Scripture by teaching it and by living it each and every day before others.

Melvin leaves behind his sons, Allen Norrod and wife Shelia of Hudson, NC and Sam Norrod and wife Kathi of Horse Cave, KY; Grandchildren: Kristina Norrod Hoyle and husband Chad, Grant A. Norrod and wife Heather, Benjamin E. Norrod and wife Haley, and Brandon P. Norrod and wife Julia; Great-grandchildren: Ethan Hoyle, Ryan Norrod, Madelyn Norrod, and Porter Norrod; Brothers: Cecil Norrod and wife Ann and Earl Norrod and wife Pat; Sister: Thelma Phillips and husband Wally
