Mr. Michael Lee Smith, 67, of Cookeville and formerly of Alpine, passed away at his residence on June 15th, 2026. Michael was known for his love of animals and his family.

A graveside celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday June 27th 2026 at 4 PM at Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine TN.

Michael is survived by his daughter Kourtney Smith, his sister and brother-in-law Tammy and Bryan Robbins, and his brother and sister-in-law Tim and Sandra Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan Ann Smith, his precious son Josh Smith, his sister Vickie Neathery, his parents Marvin and Bonita Garrett Smith, his grandmother Geneva Cooper, and grandparents Harmon and Velva (Bob) Smith.

Michael was known as a lover of all animals and especially loved his dogs as his dog Izzy also survives him. Michael was a big 2nd amendment supporter and enjoyed going to the range for target practice. Michael loved horses and their majesty and power. He was probably born a generation or two too early as living on a "Home on the range" would have been up his alley. Instead, he could dream about being a cowboy while watching his favorite westerns. Michael will be missed by many family members and friends.
