Michael “Mike” Moran passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. He was born in Groton, Connecticut on April 20, 1959 to the late James Moran and Terris Smith.  Mike Moran loved his family more than anything in the world. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing, tending to his yard and flowers, reading a good book, and cheering on his beloved Atlanta Braves.

Mike had a gift for conversation; he could talk to anyone about anything, and somehow, it was always enjoyable. A natural storyteller, he had a way of weaving emotions into his words that made his stories vivid and unforgettable. He had a sharp sense of humor and could make anyone laugh—often without them even realizing it.

Mike Moran was more than just funny or friendly—he was truly remarkable. His warmth, wit, and unwavering love for those around him made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed, but his stories and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Cathy Moran of TN; children Chris and wife Krysta Moran of OH, Jamie Moran of OH, Melissa and husband James Hale, TN, Michael Akers of TN, Crystal and Tom Arnettee of GA, Melaney Akers of TN, Mark Moran of TN, and Rene Brown of TN; father Gene Smith of TN; siblings Cheryl Burr of TN, James Moran of CT, Robert of FL, David Moran of TN, and Gary Myers; grandchildren Cathy webb, Brian and wife Shanda Reece, Kayla Reece, Amber Reece, Cody Akers, Brady Shake, Bailey Shake, Taylor and husband Hunter Lemmon, Tommy and wife Allison Arnette, Tim Arnette, Chelsea Smith, Ryleigh Dusenbury, Mya Moran, Laila Moran, Sydney Perry, Eli Moran, Landon Moran, Wiley Moran, Amara Moran, Preston Moran, Haven Moran, Gracie Moran, Russell Moran, Lukas Moran, and Conner Moran; 13 great-grandchildren; and and 6 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by son Rick Moran and sister Carla Moran. 

His family loved him very much.
