Mr. Oren Frank Huddleston, 92, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family.

He was Born February 1, 1932, in Pickett County, Tennessee to the late Morrison Haskell and Frankie Vaughn Huddleston.  Raising his family in Livingston, TN, Oren Frank was a man who was known for his faith, integrity, hard work, and most of all, his love and devotion to his wife and children.

Oren grew up in Copeland Cove and was the 3rd of 5 children, Alvin, Haskell, Oren, Leretha and Bobby.  He helped his father run the farm when his older brothers went to WWII.  He took great pride in the fact that his father entrusted him to do major farm projects, even as a young teenager.  He was smart, honest, and dependable.  He would continue to farm with his father up until his father's passing.

Oren married the love of his life, Norma "Jean" Barnes, in Georgia, on November 23, 1950.  Their devotion to each other was strongly evident to all who knew them.  He took care of her until she passed from this life in October 2021, just one-month shy of their 71st wedding anniversary.  He adored Jean and would tell his family frequently about how perfect she was for him and that she was the only woman for him.  Their love was unwavering, and his proudest accomplishment.

After high school, Oren attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute for a time, then preceded to move to Indiana to work in the automotive industry to support his young family.  Oren and Jean had three children, Mike, Tony and Jeff.  Their sons filled them with pride, and they instilled the same love and honorable virtues in their children that they themselves embodied.

During Oren's lifetime, he applied his talents to various fields.  For a time, he worked as an inspector for road construction.  He then opened Huddleston's General Store and Service Station in Livingston, TN.  He and his family ran it for 15 years.  Later working at Norris Body Shop, Oren was regarded as the premier radiator repairman in all of Overton County until the shop was closed after being damaged by lighting induced fire.  He continued his automotive career at Bilbrey's Auto Repair until he retired at 84 years old.

Oren often told the story of a near fatal accident that he survived. A car fell on top of him, and he recalled emergency personnel saying that he wasn't going to make it.  He saw a light, but heard a voice telling him to go back, that it wasn't his time to leave this earth.  As a man of faith, he was grateful to be given more time.

One of Oren's long-time passions was owning raising and breeding Spotted Saddle Horses and Tennessee Walking Horses.  He loved sharing this hobby with his family, friends, and grandchildren. many of whom have cherished memories of trail rides, bottle feeding foals, going to horse shows or sales, and helping train and care for the horses.  Oren also had a garden, nearly every year, all his life.  He took pride in working the land and growing food for his family.

Oren's life was on filled with faith, hard work, love, and family.  We celebrate the legacy he leaves behind and hope we can live in a way that makes him proud.  He will live on within us, but his physical presence will be profoundly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma "Jean" Barnes Huddleston, his parents, Morrison Haskell and Frankie Vaughn Huddleston, siblings, Alvin Huddleston, Haskell Huddleston, Leretha Harris, and Bobby Huddleson, and by his grandchildren, Crystal Lee Huddleston, and Joe Lee Huddleston.

Oren's legacy lives on in his surviving family, sons, Mike Huddleston and wife Marcia of Cookeville, TN, Tony Huddleston and wife Charlotte, of Livingston, TN, and Jeff Huddleston and wife Pam of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers to serve are Patrick Huddleston, Eric Huddleston, Charlie Huddleston, Grant Holman, Mike Manor, and Robert Huddleston.

Honorary Pallbearers are Benjamin Breeding, Mike Brown, Jonathan Jones, and Tyler Jones.
