Speck Funeral Home - Peggy Joyce Franklin

Graveside Services for Mrs. Peggy Joyce Lollar Franklin, age 93, of the Beaty Swamp Community will be conducted 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from the Overton County Memorial Gardens.  Bro. Gary Taylor will officiate.  The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Franklin passed from this life on October 8, 2021.  She was born at home in Carthage, Tennessee on October 29, 1927 to the late Waymon Detro and Daisy May Jenkins Lollar.  A 1946 graduate of Livingston Academy, Peggy was a member of the Midway Christian Church.  Peggy truly marched to the beat of her own drum, never met a stranger, and loved humor and pulling a good joke on her family and friends.  She enjoyed flowers of all colors, shapes, and sizes, especially roses. Peggy loved sunny days and was always joyful.  She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, entertaining at her house making sure her table was set in true proper etiquette with fresh flowers from her home as the centerpiece.  Peggy loved animals and enjoyed just being at home taking care of her house, yard, and decorating for each season.  She was also very knowledgeable about birds, a trait she got from her father who taught her from a child by reading her books from the Audubon Society.  

Peggy leaves behind her daughter, Judith Ann Franklin Vaden and husband Charles of Lebanon, TN; son, Douglas Glen Franklin and wife Dian of Livingston, TN; daughter-in-law, Harriett Franklin wife of the late William Lee Franklin of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren, Christy Leigh Hamilton and husband John, Rebecca Joyce Owensby and husband Josh, Alicia Nicole Dauw and husband Kyle, Brian Matthew Franklin and wife Stacie, Jennifer Masters and husband Shawn, William Glenn Franklin and wife Julie, Brittany Key and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Trey Hamilton, Jacob Hamilton, Vaden Drury, Cate Drury, Brooklyn Dauw, Chloe Dauw, Lana Englehardt, Addilyn Key, Aubrey Key, Harper Grace Masters, Callie Swallows, Jacob Swallows, Cody Batson, and Jared Batson.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Glenn Franklin; son, William Lee Franklin, granddaughter, Elizabeth Vaden Drury; sisters, Patricia Copeland, and Betty Jean Hagan; and brother, Charles David Lollar.

Pallbearers to serve are her grandchildren.
