Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Porter Sheldon "Pete" Parsons, age 91, of Lebanon, Tennessee and formerly of Monroe will be conducted 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2023, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Gordon Donahoe, grandson Dillon Holland, and nephew Buckie Parsons will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Monday from 12 noon until time of services.
Mr. Pete Parsons passed peacefully from this life on Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2023, from the Vanderbilt Hospital of Wilson County. He was born at home in Monroe, Tennessee on September 18, 1932, to the late Andrew and Lillian Hicks Parsons. After graduating from Livingston Academy, Pete earned his Engineering degree from Tennessee Tech. He then served his country in the Army. He married his high school sweetheart in April of 1956, together they would spend the next 61 years building and creating their legacy. Pete was a member of the Donelson View Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He worked for 35 years for PCI as their sales manager. Pete was known for making big, beautiful gardens, which he enjoyed sharing with everyone. His family, helping others, and striking up good conversations was always what he loved best.
Pete leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Holland and husband Randy of Lebanon, TN; son, Benny Parsons and wife Renee of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Dillon Holland, Tyler Parsons and wife Hilarie, Cain Parsons and wife Rebecca, and Ryan Parsons and wife Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Julie Parsons, Jacob Parsons, Joe Parsons, Zayne Parsons, Kaylie Hogan, Avery Parsons, and Levi Parsons.1 great-great-grandchild, Skye Hogan
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joyce Hawkins Parsons; sister, Wilma King; and brothers, Howard Parsons, Andrew "Spud" Parsons, Glenn Dennis "Doc" Parsons, and Everett Parsons.
