Funeral Services for Mr. R. L. Ogletree, age 89, of Allons will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2024, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.  Burial to follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.

Mr. Ogletree passed from this life on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024, from the comforts of his home in Allons.  He was born at home in Allons, on April 29, 1935, to the late Rease and Myrtie Gilpatrick Ogletree.  R.L. was a 1958 graduate of Livingston Academy and served his country in the United States Army.  He was proud to be part of the Teamsters Union for many years.  He loved farming, and his family and friends unconditionally.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles and loved his dog Speedy.  He was a member of the Allons Church of Christ and for many years the West Side Church of Christ in Muncie, IN.

R. L. leaves behind his son, Rex Ogletree and wife Christi of Yorktown, IN, and Roy Ogletree of Allons, TN; grandchildren, Leah Hogue and husband Harly, Seth Parker and wife Cortni , Brandon Roberts and wife Nickie, and Emmett Ogletree; great-grandchildren, Knox Parker, Emmalynn Rae Parker, Jayse Roberts, and Aubree Roberts and Caspian Ogletree; sister-in-law, Retha Ogletree of Allons, TN; niece, Tina Williams and husband Vance great nephew, James Edward Williams and wife Rena and great nieces, Taryn Hodge and husband Brandon and Abi Williams.

In addition to his parents, R.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Hargis, daughter, Ronda Jean Ogletree Parker, grandson, Austin Ogletree and brother, James Hardy Ogletree.

Pallbearers to serve are Eric Clark, Seth Parker, Dale Sullivan, Butch Cross, Jim Davidson, and James Edward Williams.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Emmett Ogletree.
