Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Houston Padgett, age 87, of Monroe will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Aron Dillion and Bro. Tim Beaty will officiate. Burial to follow in the Sylvester Robbins Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.
Mr. Padgett passed from this life on Sunday evening, January 9, 2022 from his residence. He was born May 16, 1934 to the late Wood and Delphi Reagan Padgett. Robert was a member of the McDonalds Chapel United Methodist Church but often attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Oak Grove, a member of the Eagle Creek Masonic Lodge #530, and served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1958. He enjoyed fishing, hunting squirrel and dry land fish. Riding to the lake and back roads of the county. He was very knowledgeable in history and studying genealogy.
Robert leaves behind his loving wife, Jessie Price Padgett of Monroe, TN; daughters, Robin Vaughn and husband Johnny of Livingston, TN, and Dana Halsell and husband Stormy of Rickman, TN; sister, Martha Brown of Hilham, TN.; grandchildren, Layne Clark, Ellie Halsell, and Snowie Halsell.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Michael Padgett; brothers, Jim and Rod Padgett; and sisters, Georgia Smith and Gracie Chambers.
Pallbearers to serve are Layne Clark, Junior Hill, Johnny Hill, Ronnie Smith, Kevin Norrod, and Ronald Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers are Coy Padgett, Tommy Crabtree, Doyle Smith, Jeff Flowers, John Clark.
