Speck Funeral Home - Ruth Watkins

Graveside Services for Mrs. Ina Ruth Smith Watkins, age 98, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 from the Overton County Memorial Gardens.  Bro. Bobby Gore will officiate.  The family will welcome friends at the cemetery.  

Mrs. Ruth passed from this life from the comfort of her home on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2020.  She was born in Texas on January 23, 1922 to the late Dillard & Mae Matheny Smith.  She was a 1940 graduate of Livingston Academy, and a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.  Ruth enjoyed going out to eat, hunting, fishing, and traveling.  She liked buying and collecting jewelry, and loved her church family and attending church.  She loved life and and meeting people.

Ruth leaves behind her nieces, Shelby Reid of Livingston, TN, and Glenda Lewis of Livingston, TN; a host of great nieces and nephews; very special caregiver, Rebecca Thompson.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Butler Watkins; brothers, Otto Smith, and Ernest Smith; sisters, Iva Matthews, and Lucille Higgerson.

Pallbearers to serve are Doug Franklin, Jack Byrd, Tim Reid, Danny Smith, Eddie Gilpatrick, Grant Mullins, and Charles "Fuzz" Thompson.
