Speck Funeral Home - Steve Thompson

Funeral Services for Mr. Steve Thompson, age 61, of Monroe, Tennessee will be conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Danny Staggs will officiate. Burial to follow in the Grant Norrod Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Then again on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to time of service at Speck Funeral Home.  

Mr. Thompson passed from the comfort of his home on Saturday night, September 24, 2022.  He was born in Livingston, Tennessee on March 23, 1961, to Joyce Faye Thompson and the late Willie Harold Thompson. Steve was a 1979 graduate of Livingston Academy, and a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ. He was known for his sense of humor and enjoying making people laugh through his stories. He loved basketball especially the Livingston Academy Wildcats. Most of all he loved and was extremely proud of his family. 

Steve leaves behind his wife of 41 years Mrs. Denise Ledbetter Thompson of Monroe, TN; mother Joyce Faye Thompson of Allons, TN; daughters Brook Gilbert and husband Seth of Cookeville, TN and Megan Burnett and husband Wes of Rickman, TN; son Heath Thompson and wife Bailey of Livingston; grandchildren, Cara Lee Gilbert, Callie Laine Gilbert, Bryce Burnett, Blakely Burnett, Stevi Jo Thompson, and Dani Lou Thompson; sister, Sue Bush and husband Gary of Cookeville, TN; sisters-in-law Sherry Hall and husband Tom of Monroe, TN, Teresa Johnson and husband Barry of Monroe, TN, and Billie Lou Melton and husband Michael of Monroe, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Willie Harold Thompson.

Pallbearers to serve are David Thrasher, John Mark Ramsey, Mike Boles, Alan Baltimore, Seth Gilbert, and Wes Burnett
