Celebration of Life Services for Steven “Jake” Asberry, age 60, of Monroe, TN. will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, January 4th, 2025, from the Livingston First Church at 890 Overton Plaza, Livingston, TN.  Rev Eric Dillon will officiate.  The family will welcome friends on Friday, January 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. 

Steven Jake Asberry went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 1:30 a.m. Cookeville Regional Hospital. Jake devoted his life to following the Lord, beginning as a teenager.

Jake was born and raised in Albany, Kentucky. He was born April 14, 1964, in Albany, Kentucky, to Earl and Lucille (Parrigin) Asberry. He attended Clinton County High, where he graduated in 1982. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and completed degrees in education, including a Master’s degree and Rank 1 (EdS) in Instructional Leadership. Jake was an amazing educator for 22 years. He loved watching teenagers learn and bloom into productive men and women.

Jake married Susan White on July 8, 1995, in Albany, Kentucky. They moved and made their life to Monroe, Tennessee with their son Thomas Ledford. Jake was a vital member of Livingston First Church. He also filled in preaching at a number of local churches. He served on many Emmaus, Journey, and Chrysalis teams as part of the Upper Cumberland Emmaus Community. He also graduated from the Kaleo Leadership School in Reynosa, Mexico, 2019.  While Jake was in Reynosa, the Lord gave him a vision for the future to help people to know Jesus and to help them better these lives with an education or job. Jake new that if he could help people change their lives, he would help change generations. He worked for Persevere where he was a Technology Employment Specialist. 

Jake leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Asberry of Monroe, TN; his son, Thomas Ledford of Monroe, TN; his brother, Donnie Asberry and wife Billie Joyce of Albany, KY, and sister, Barbara Asberry of Albany, KY;  nephews, Chris Asberry of Albany, KY; and John Asberry a niece Paula Gibson; and numerous great and great greatnephews and nieces.

Jake is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lucille (Parrigin) Asberry and nephew Randy Asberry.

In leu of flowers, donations are suggested to go to the youth mission trip going to Madrid, Spain in memory of Jake Asberry.
