Speck Funeral Home - Velma O. Ledbetter Obituary

Funeral Services for Mrs. Velma O. Ledbetter, age 98, of Livingston, Tennessee will be conducted at 2 p.m, Sunday, April 9, 2023, from the First Baptist Church in Livingston, where her body will lie in repose from 1 PM until time of services.  Bro. Derek Parsons will officiate.  Burial to follow in the Highland Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Livingston.

Mrs. Velma Ledbetter passed away at Overton Health and Rehab Cottage on April 5, 2023.  She was born in Overton County on November 5, 1924, to the late Charlie and Minnie Lee McDaniel Walker.  Velma loved spending time with her family, reading her Bible and going to church.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, singing and going to basketball games.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Glenmore Ledbetter, daughter Brenda Ledbetter McDonald, son Dale Ledbetter, brothers Estel Walker and Daulis Walker; sisters Irene Stevens and Beatrice Huddleston; grandson Scott McDonald; sons-in-law Charles Kennedy and Max Crabtree; daughter-in-law Peggy Rooker Ledbetter.

She is survived by sons, Buddy and Susan Ledbetter of Livingston, Donald Ledbetter of Livingston, Gary and Dianne Ledbetter of Rickman; daughters Ellen Kennedy of Rickman, Nina Crabtree of Livingston, Mildred & Roy Hugh Melton of Monroe, Anita Ledbetter of Livingston, son-in-law Robert McDonald of Livingston, and sister-in-law Flora Walker of Cookeville.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; Vickie Duncan of Knoxville, Steven and Shannon Kennedy of Knoxville, Jeff and Tammy Kennedy of Rickman, Angela and David Talbert of Cookeville, Brian and Heather Crabtree of Nolensville, Lisa and John Mark Ramsey of Livingston, Marla and Teddy Dailey of Livingston, Michael and Billie Lou Melton of Monroe, Richard and Amellia Melton of Livingston, Chris and Angela Ledbetter of Livingston, Karen Ledbetter of Livingston, Greg and Jen McDonald of Cookeville, Jeremy and Aspen McDonald of Cookeville, Christy Ledbetter of Cookeville, David and Lisa Ledbetter of Livingston, Mary Frances and Adam Young of Sparta, Ryan and Bethany Ledbetter of Rickman, Ashley and JR Jackson of Lebanon and Alex Ledbetter of Livingston.

She is also survived by 48 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers to serve are her grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons.
